In an effort to promote greater understanding of Islamic philosophy and thought, the URD has announced the establishment of the Iqbal Chair.
Named after the renowned Muslim philosopher and poet Muhammad Iqbal, the chair will focus on exploring the rich intellectual heritage of Islam and its contributions to human civilization. It will be led by a distinguished scholar who will be responsible for conducting research, organizing seminars and conferences, and promoting scholarship in different related topics.
According to Dr. Sayed Abolhassan Navab , the president of the University of Religions and Denominations, the establishment of the Iqbal Chair is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding between different cultures and religions.
