International Online Programme on Religion, Family and Islamic Ethics to Be Jointly Organized by URD and IAKF
The University of Religions and Denominations (URD) with the cooperation of Imam Ali Knowledge Foundation (IAKF), is pleased to announce the upcoming international online programme “Foundations in Religion, Family and Islamic Ethics”, an excellent opportunity for students, researchers, academics and all those interested in religious studies and Islamic thought to deepen their knowledge through direct engagement with leading scholars.
Designed as a three-course academic programme, the initiative offers participants the opportunity to explore some of the most important and thought-provoking topics in contemporary religious and Islamic studies through an interdisciplinary and comparative approach.
The programme includes 24 live online sessions, with eight sessions dedicated to each course. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with lecturers through live Q&A sessions, making the programme an engaging academic experience rather than simply a series of recorded lectures.
The first course, “Introduction to World Religions and Mysticism,” provides a comparative exploration of major religious traditions, mystical experience, Islamic mysticism, contemporary spirituality, new religious movements and interfaith dialogue.
The second course, “Women and Family in Islam,” examines the position of women and the institution of family in Islam through the perspectives of Islamic law, Qur’anic studies, psychology and sociology.
The third course, “Introduction to Ethics: Islamic Ethical Traditions,” introduces participants to the Qur’anic, Prophetic, philosophical, spiritual and Shi‘a foundations of Islamic ethics and their relevance to individual and social life.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the participation of scholars and lecturers from the University of Religions and Denominations, providing participants with the opportunity to learn from specialists in religious studies and Islamic thought. The programme is particularly suitable for those seeking to broaden their academic horizons and gain a deeper understanding of religion, Islam, mysticism, family and ethics from diverse perspectives.
Participants who fulfill the attendance requirements will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
