Faculty of Literature and Humanities

The faculty of “Literature and Humanities” officially began its activities in 2025 following the merger of the Faculties of Law, Philosophy, and Languages and Cultures of Nations. The faculty operates in the fields of philosophy, law, literature, and related studies, with the primary goal of forging a link between Iranian–Islamic intellectual and literary traditions and contemporary approaches in the humanities.

The faculty offers specialized instruction and research in the following disciplines: Philosophy (with concentrations in Islamic Philosophy and Theology, Philosophy of Religion, Philosophy of Ethics and Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy and Wisdom of Art), Law (with various concentrations in Public Law, International Law, Private Law, Criminal Law, and Criminology), Persian Language and Literature, Arabic Language and Literature, and English Language and Literature. Graduates of this faculty conduct research through the publication of scholarly articles, books, and theses, contributing meaningfully to the development of indigenous knowledge in the fields of law, philosophy, and literature.

The faculty currently admits students at the following levels:

  • Doctoral (PhD): Arabic Language and Literature, Islamic Philosophy and Kalam, Philosophy of Religion, Moral philosophy, Philosophy of Art, and Private Law.
  • Master’s (MA/MSc): Islamic Philosophy and Kalam, Philosophy of Religion, Philosophy of Mind, Ethics (Moral philosophy), Philosophy of Art, Private Law, Public and International Law, Criminal Law and Criminology, Persian Language and Literature, Arabic Literature, and English Language Teaching.

Instruction at the Faculty of Literature and Humanities is conducted primarily in Persian. Certain specialized philosophy courses and courses in the Arabic Literature programs are offered in Arabic, while courses in the English Language Teaching program are delivered in English.

The faculty currently comprises four academic departments:

  1. Department of Law
  2. Department of Philosophy
  3. Department of Philosophy and Wisdom of Art
  4. Department of Literature

The Faculty of Literature and Humanities has active student academic associations, including the Academic Association of Law and the Academic Association of Philosophy, which regularly organize academic sessions, workshops, lectures, and specialized conferences.
