Cyprus Armenians Leader at URD: Iran, 2nd home for all Armenians around the globe

The religious leader of the community of the Armenians of Cyprus, Catholicosal Vicar Archbishop Nareg Alemezian paid a visit to the University of Religions and Denominations.

Archbishop Nareg who had started his Iran tour on August 15th, entered URD on Monday, where he was warmly welcomed by Dr. Masjed Jamei, top councilor of the university, s president.

Having had a fruitful meeting with Dr. Masjed Jamei, Archbishop Nareg delivered a short lecture to a group of URD faculty on the necessity of peaceful co-existence of religions in the world based on mutual respect.

In his speech, URD, s Cypriot guest appreciated the Iranian government and people for affectionately hosting the Armenians and other religious minorities as well for centuries, calling the country the second home for all Armenians around the globe.

At the end of this meeting the two sides examined the possibility of mutual scientific cooperation through the exchange of professors and students.

Nareg Alemezian has been the Catholicosal Vicar Archbishop of Cyprus and accountable to the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia since June 2014.
