Department of History of Islam
As the only department of the Faculty of History, the department of History of Islam offers the field of History of Islam and admits MA and PhD students. The content and courses currently offered under this field focus on reviewing the changes, developments, and thoughts of the Muslim world from the early times on. Among the courses taught in this department, the following can be mentioned: “history of the Umayyad dynasty”, “history of the Abbasid dynasty”, “history of Shiite Islam”, “history in the Quran and Nahj al-Balaghah”, and “history of the Ottoman empire”.
The graduates of this faculty conduct research through research papers and theses, each of which can take a great step to facilitate the interfaith dialogue. At the end of their education, researchers are trained in this department who will be able to work as specialists and experts in Islamic history. Enjoying from their knowledge of the hectic history of Islam, these researchers can apply a comprehensive approach, when involved with the institutes for educational, cultural affairs and Islamic promotion. The head of the Department of History of Islam is Dr. Mohamad Hasan Moraveji Tabasi.
