Dr. Navvab, the president of the University of Religions and denominations, met the members of Indonesian MUI (Majlis- ul- Ulama –el- Indonesia), the Assembly of Muslim Clergies of Indonesia, as a part of his programs during a trip to this country.

Talking to MUI members, Dr. Navvab condemned the current sporadic radical and extremist activities under the name of Shiism such as insulting the first three Caliphs and stressed that the mainstream of the Shiite community is opposed to such practices and our Sunni brothers throughout the world, including Indonesia ought to be aware that anyone who does these insults is not a true follower of Shia, but he is an ignorant defamer.
Dr. Omar Shahab, top MUI member and its ex-president having welcomed Dr. Navvab and his delegation also referred to the peaceful atmosphere between the Sunni majority and the Shia minority of his country and added: “we also condemn any extremist action by any Muslim from any sect.
MUI ex-president also added that this assembly neither has issued any anti-Shia fatwa and nor it will do, believing that there is no difference between the principles of the two main sects of Islam.
