Department of Quranic Studies

The Department of Quranic Studies is the only department in the Faculty of Quranic Studies, encompassing two graduate programs. The students can enroll in the MA program “Quranic Studies” and the PhD program “Quran and Hadith Studies”. The head of the department is Dr. Mohammad Taghi Ansaripour.

The content and the courses offered in the Quranic programs of this department concentrate on the theoretical Quranic studies. The aim here is to train researchers who, through in-depth knowledge of Quran, can explain the views that are supported by the Quran and authentic hadiths. Among the subjects covered in this department are the exegetical basics and methodology, vocabularies and figures in the Quran, history of hadith, history of Quran, I’jaz (inimitability) of the Quran, thematic exegesis of the Quran, and review of the exegetical schools and methods.
