:Abstract
The research with the topic (The Reaction of Shia scholars to Donaldsons Statements in the Book: The Shiite Religion: A History of Islam in Persia and Irak) was carried out with the aim of transferring criticisms and opinions of Shia scholars to the Western world about Donaldsons statements in this book.This research in four chapters has been prepared and arranged :1.general chapter;2.An overview of the history of Islamic-Shia studies in the West;3.The reaction of Shia scholars to the content of the book (The Shiite religion) and the general comparison of books or articles related to Shia imams in the encyclopedia of Islam;4.Conclusion;Despite the large number of criticisms, due to the limitations of the research, the researcher has only presented and explained twenty criticisms and analyzes.Despite Donaldsons positive impact in introducing the Shia religion to the Western world, the criticisms made are based on the books serious flaws, such as the flaw related to the sources used, being influenced by the colonial goals of the West, the Sunni perspective, superficial and non-scientific analysis and judgments, and the historical perspective. It refers only to Shia events and lack of phenomenological attention to events.Despite Donaldsons positive influence in introducing the Shia religion to the Western world, the criticisms made point to the following problems:Invalidity of the sources used, being influenced by the colonial goals of the West, analysis of Shiism based on the opinions of Sunnis, non-scientific analyses, historical view of Shia events and lack of phenomenological attention to Shiism.
