A group of the University of West Bohemia professors met with the President of URD on Wednesday, February 2.
Public Relations office of the URD reports: “a group of professors and faculty members of the University of West Bohemia, Czech, held week-long seminars and courses at the URD, with the support of Erasmus+. At the end, they met with the President of URD on Wednesday, February 2 and discussed continuations of relations and cooperation between the two universities.”
Hujat al-Islam Navab welcomed the professors of the University of West Bohemia and said: “we encourage university professors around the world to come and stay in Iran, so we can have scholarly discussions and cooperation. The outcome of such visits has been the transformation of Islamic-Christian relations from the Crusades into scholarly and religious dialogues. This took long to happen; however, it has happened now and no longer does the animosity between them exist as it used to in the past. With the continuation of these visits, we will definitely experience better conditions.”
“The end of any war has always been dialogue and interaction. Therefore, it is much better to start with dialogue before any war to prevent animosity, fight, and whatever that can endanger mankind”, he continued.
The President of the URD stated: although our countries may not have conflicts, humans face many troubles today. Poverty and war are the most important problems that mankind struggles with. It is our duty, as part of the human society, to address these problems. It is our job to cooperate as much as possible in solving the problems of the mankind by conducting such visits and dialogues.
He added: “accordingly, we seek to run such programs continuously to make them permanent bilateral programs. Hopefully, we can expand the relations between the two universities and plan various academic-cultural dialogues in the future.
Later in the meeting, Dr. Daniel Krizek, the Head of Department of Middle East Studies at the University of West Bohemia, thanked the URD for their hospitality and good program organization and said: “these visits are effective and we are here to state that these relationships should continue; we should have a lot of talks in this regard.”
Krizek continued: “we will try to achieve this goal. We look forward to seeing a group from the University of Religions and Denominations in the coming months, so that we can sign multi-year cooperation agreements . One of our goals is to expand the relationship between the students of the two universities; by holding seminars, conferences, and other academic programs, we aim to establish dialogue between the students and the professors of the two universities.”
At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged gifts.
In this meeting, Hujat al-Islam Dr. Taskhiri, the Deputy of Communications and International Affairs of the university, Hujat al-Islam Raf’ati, the Head of the Office of Scientific and International Collaborations, and Hujat al-Islam Qolitabar, the Head of the Europe-USA office of the university were also present.
