The research in history has multiple aspects, and its importance lies in its multiplicity, as it is political, economic, military, social, urban, and so on. And since it was necessary to go to some kind of sources, Ibn Battuta’s Journey book was chosen to depict for us the urban landmarks in Iraq, which included three axes that the research revolved around: (religious architecture) such as mosques, shrines, etc., and (civil architecture) such as houses and bathrooms Schools, markets, etc., and (military architecture), including trenches, walls, forts, castles, and so on. This research falls within the field of Islamic history and therefore its method is historical and its level is descriptive and inductive. It was relied on Ibn Battuta’s Journey book to extrapolate what was mentioned in it about the urban landmarks in Iraq. The scientific demands and research axes were established according to the material in it, whether it was little or many, and then it was directed To other sources that contributed to explaining the details of what Ibn Battuta mentioned in general. The result of this research is that Ibn Battuta referred to important urban landmarks in Iraq, which include religious, civil and military architecture, as we have indicated in the three axes. Urbanism, as he only described what he deems appropriate, and there are other features that we did not study because they were not mentioned by Ibn Battuta.
