Comparative study of functions of Grace in Catholic theology and Lotf in Shiite theology

In Islamic literature, one of the Prominent Attributes of God is Lotf , and Islamic theologians have found interest thereof in proving opinions and religious beliefs. Shia doctrine of lotf Forms the Outline of Divine guidance according to which God has designed Throughout Creations from Beginning to the end including Human Life. Knowing God has considered Human needs, above all guiding him with wisdom, and opened the way towards eternal bliss. Catholic Christianity, following especial view to the sin of Adam and his descendants, believes that the source of Salvation far from human capabilities. The Great Catholic theologians have held that the salvation is possible only through the God’s Grace which already embodied in Jesus Christ the son of God. In addition to their functions, it is the author’s purpose that enumerates the epistemological and theological Aspects of Grace and lotf doctrines. In his view, the climax of Grace’s functions has its roots in fundamental theological issues such as, Replacing faith with Shari’ah, manifestation, crucifixion and ascension of Jesus. Simultaneously, the doctrine of Grace Grace is the basis of anthropology and plays an important role in issues including life and death, freewill, evil, sin, forgiveness and salvation, and In a word, it is the basis of faith and Salvationism. in shia theology lotf is equivalent to lotf and has fundamental role in rational monotheism specially in proving Prophethood ,Imamate, Consensus of jurists and some religious minutia such as enjoining good and forbidding. in the first place Lotf is similar to Grace conceptually, though the purpose of this study is contrasting the functions of these two doctrines in Shia and Catholics and not necessarily seeking their natures. The writer believes that the right understanding of the functions of the doctrines helps to figure out their goals. Apart from the various messages of these two doctrines, the ultimate goal of proposing them is human guidance.
