The Role of Facebook in the Levels of the Arabic Language Among Iraqi Users (A Combined Study of Language Experts in Baghdad)

This research examines the problem of the role of the Facebook social network in Arabic language levels, regarding the use of Iraqi users on their desktops in order to discover the negative or positive effects that this site has on the language of users and the weaknesses of the communication language that have been identified through this site and the extent of the impact of this site in reducing the Arabic language among users should be known. These effects in public and private universities in the capital of Iraq, Baghdad, are clarified through the perspective of Arabic language professors who work in Baghdad as specialists in this field. This research is based on classified descriptive media research, relying on the survey method which is a method to achieve the goals, to collect information and data, informal scientific interview and questionnaire form have been used. 35 experts in qualitative study and 135 experts in quantitative research who are experts in Arabic language were studied and the research sample was selected by random sampling in two studies. This research achieved a set of results, the most specific of which is: It was found that Facebook has positive and negative effects on Arabic language levels among users, but its effects are more negative from the perspective of Arabic language experts. And that most of the language usage that is published on the Facebook site is against the rules of the Arabic language and its methods of expression and brings the weakness of the language skills of Iraqi users; While Arabic language experts largely rejected it, they recognized the negative effects of Facebook leading to the destruction of the Arabic language itself; But the reflection of the site’s technical specifications in the way users use the Arabic language and icons, abbreviations and foreign words may lead to its destruction and the destruction of the national identity of users; Despite risk of language weakness on the way of thinking and thought production, Arabic experts mentioned it at the end of their statements.
