History of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex

This book serves as an illustrated history and introduction to the sites and historical mausoleums within the al-Aqsa Mosque. Mentioned in the Quran, specifically Surah al-Isra, it holds immense significance as the first qibla (direction of prayer) for Muslims. It was also the location of Prophet Muhammad’s ascension (miʿraj). Following the Two Noble Shrines, it stands as the most sacred place for Muslims.

The Palestinian author of this book provides an introduction to all the Islamic monuments encompassed within the expansive 4.14-hectare complex. This includes the ceiled al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, the al-Marwani Mosque, ponds, wells, domes, gates, schools, and various other structures. The book is accompanied by 250 illustrations and maps
