One of the ways to comprehend any religion is to get aquainted with what that religion has brought for the followers. in this article things that the Catholic Christianity and the Shia have brought are studied in terms of roles and responsibilities of religious authorities in these two religions. in the Shia,at least there are 4 roles regarding the society which only the role of political ruling out of these 4 has meaning and equivalent in Christianity;the role of educational reference, the role of judgement and the role of interpretation. because of the range and variety of teachings and the possible boundaries of them,The role of educational reference is far richer than what Christianity has to offer in this department and in terms of time and conditions of Being reference, for the sake of the fact that religious authorities possess  holy and inner knowledge, they don’t pass ordinary educational periods.the role of interpretation also in Shia’s religious references  is much wider than just revealing mysteries and explaining religious contexts and it includes inner interpretations of the contexts of the religious book.on the other hand Christianity has been more flexible practically over the course of history and according to the conditions and different circumstances, the church has tended to expand a part or narrow the range of its roles. However in shia’s atmosphere the base of the roles and power of the emams have remained unchanged and just the shia’s understanding relating to  these roles over the course of the history has been improving.
