One of the main concerns and missions of the Islamic Society is Unity, because the fruits of the unity show the great power of Muslims in the world and promote Muslims situation in addition to the independence of the Islamic countries from the colonists. However, the western countries coveted resources of the Muslim world were constantly trying to prevent the Islamic unity and they have been successful so far by creating obstacles and making the hatred instead of compassion and brotherhood among the Muslims. The late Imam Khomeini realized the importance of Unity, and he is considered one of the most influential contemporary Muslim leaders in this regard. His commitment to the unity led to the fact that the unity has become one of the most important concepts during his life. Thus, this thesis with analytical-descriptive method attempts to address the late Imam Khomeini’s speech and conducts, recalling the epistemological principles of the unity based on the Quran and tradition from which the principles of social interest, dignity of Muslims, adherence to the social life of the Prophet Muhammad (s) as well as Taqiya (prudence) are extracted.  Lastly, the most important functions of those principles are extracted from the late Imam Khomeini’s thoughts and sayings.  Findings of the study suggest that the most important functions of the Islamic unity and proximity (Taqrib) are establishing the Islamic Republic, demonstrating the power of Islamic nations during Hajj as well as Islamic world independence.
