In today’s world, divorce is a phenomenon that has become a growing trend in almost all societies of the world, including Iranian society. There are many types of divorce, one of which is consensual divorce, although this type of divorce can be considered different from other types of divorce because it is done with the consent of both parties. Due to the fact that consensual divorce is more prevalent among Iranians of Arab descent living in Ahvaz than in other cities of the country, for this reason, the issue of consensual divorce is of special importance in family studies. The findings of this study show; Consensual divorce among the Arab Iranians of Ahvaz has distinctive features compared to consensual divorce and its common meaning, so that this divorce is influenced by the subcultures governing ethnic and tribal life and the factors affecting it apart from individual desires to ethnic prejudices , Has been the expedient elimination of some anomalies, family deviations, prevention of revenge, murder and bloodshed. In the meantime, the sheikhs and elders of each tribe played the role of mediators, and in terms of the form and meaning of divorce, an agreement between these tribes had a different nature, which is mentioned in this study. This research has been done by a quantitative and qualitative combination of questionnaire and interview tools. The statistical population included 650 cases of consensual divorces of couples and 8 cases of Arab sheikhs of Ahvaz. In this study, information was extracted from 17 divorce registration offices in Ahvaz in the period of summer 1396 to summer1397. The sample size was determined by calculating Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 277 items, however, 300 items were considered to reduce the error level. The results of examining the research hypotheses showed; Factors of forced marriage at a young age, imposing hard work on the wife, extramarital affairs, violence against the wife, support of sheikhs and tribal elders, belief in sexual preference, lack of financial support for the wife have had a positive effect on consensual divorce. Of course, the validity was confirmed by the structural and formal content method, the person is considered (equal to 0.828). The hypotheses of this study were using analysis of variance and Pearson correlation coefficient and in abundance.
