This thesis has been conducted in order to recognise the role of the interactive citizens’ journalism in globalisation the new era of media The thesis highlights the changes that occurrs in the media contents and the nature of its providers, its aspect and the technological platforms that the new era of media has provided when it becomes an important method to deliver media contents The audience becomes productive and contributive after it was considered as only a receiver.The media establishments -itself- becomes dependent on citizens’ journalism throughout making the prominent and effective interaction of citizens’ journalism as its source of information in covering news and events This thesis discusses the citizens’ journalism’s initiation and its concept Also, it discusses the effect of interaction and globalisation on the citizens ‘journalism and the new era of media, its means and effectiveness This thesis aims to recognise the effectiveness of the citizens’ journalism on media establishments and society in Iraq as well as it discusses how the journalists in Iraq have relied on it as a source of information.The thesis discusses the lack of ethical and professional regulations for the citizens’ journalism in order to arrange its work and the emphasis on the commitment to these regulations by those who use it Also, it discusses how to minimise the violations that individuals suffer from when practicing citizens’ journalism, the lack of respect to personal privacy and the social values.Throughout research, inference and outcomes that this thesis has concluded; the citizens’ journalism plays an effective role in society and media establishments in Iraq Citizens’ journalism can be considered as an essential source of information within the frame of professional regulations after following carful considerations to ensure the credibility and reliability of its contents, therefore, it is important to include it in media colleges’ curriculum

This thesis states that citizens’ journalism lacks to numerous professional and ethical regulations in order to arrange its work and to make it compulsory to its users to minimise the violations for its users Minimisation of violations can be facilitate by legislating laws to practice citizens’ journalism and convicting those who offends Finally, it ensures on the importance of the inclusion of the citizens’ journalism in the curriculum of media colleges as well as educating society in order to benefit from using it correctly and according to clear regulations.
