Among the arts, poetry has a special status in mysticism. Persian mystical literature, both in terms of volume and richness, is perhaps the most significant part of Persian literature. Mystical literature, especially in Rumi’s works, has a poetic element. And the question is, what is the wisdom and essence of this poetry? The right perspective to answer this question is mysticism. Poetry is rooted in mysticism in mystical literature. Poetry means seeing things differently. The poetic gaze is transcending from appearance to meaning or inwardness. Poetry is an openness to poetic inspiration. Poetry is not equal and limited in poetry, and there is generality and peculiarity in some respect relationship between poetry and poem as an art. Characteristics of mystical experience, including astonishment, immediacy, and inexpressibility, are factors influencing poetry in mystical literature. Poetry is realized in three areas; Poetic perception, poetic expression and poetic speech. These three areas are in a linear ratio. Poetry in mystical literature goes back to some mystical foundations in all three areas. Mystical knowledge and poetic knowledge are of the same type, and the mystic’s wisdom of poetic perception of existence goes back to his mystical knowledge of existence. Mystic’s poetic expression is the result of a conversation between him as a human being and his mystical intuition. In this field, poetic forms are formed and presented in the field of poetic language. The wisdom of poetic language in mysticism is to have an unrestricted language and to be free from the formal limitations of poetic language.
