When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) immigrated to Medina, almost all the people help him, Islam and Muslims. In return Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave them special status and used them in many positions. After Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the people of Medina gathered at a place called Saqifa Bani Sa’ida. They wanted to choose one of their own to be the successor to the Prophet (PBUH), or at least be a part of the power but Muslims chose Abu Bakr as the surrogate and pledged allegiance to him. After Abu Bakr, Umar ibn al-Khattab, then Uthman ibn Affan, and finally Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) came to the Caliphate and were named the Rashidun Caliphs throughout history. It seems Medina’s people’s position has degraded after the Prophet (PBUH) and has never been back to the same status. One of the scenes of this decline is their use in various positions. The following research intends to compare the duties of the people of Medina during the time of the Prophet (PBUH) and the Rashidun Caliphs. Then answers the primary question of how much difference is between the utilization of the Medina’s people after and before the Prophet (PBUH) and why? Using the Descriptive and analytical method and library information collection, This study which is Applied research, has concluded that the use of people of Medina decreases considerably during the era of the Rashidun Caliphs but this event had some positive and negative reasons. In which during Uthman ibn Affan’s Caliphate, this difference is enormous and unjustifiable. The apportionment of duties between Medina’s people and others was also balanced during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which changed in favor of non-Medina’s people in the period after him for the same reasons.
