Analysis of transformation and social and cultural functions of devotion based on devoting documents Mohammad Baqir and Abolfazl, tolite of Hazrat Masoumeh threshold in Qom in Pahlavi period

Endowment (Waqf), which has been considered as a good and lasting religious tradition in Islam, has been considered as a good tradition for various reasons such as obtaining God’s satisfaction, saving the hereafter,  leader´s emphasis on this issue, following the rulers in performing this tradition, seeking honor and gaining good reputation among the people and gaining human attention throughout history. Given the developments in Iranian society in the contemporary era and the importance of endowments at this time, the question came to mind about what were the endowments of Qom in the Pahlavi era and what changes and transformations occurred in them?

In order to answer this question, it was decided that the endowment documents of Threshold of Holiness Masumeh (PBUH) should be examined during this period and in this way, the Threshold Documentation Center of Holiness Masumeh (PBUH) was assisted. However, there were some ambiguities, such as the character of the endowers and endowed places, which have been achieved by interviewing and field research and getting help from some books. This thesis deals with the transformation and social and cultural functions of endowment in Pahlavi era in Qom based on endowed documents of Mohammad Bagher and Abolfazl Tawlit on the Threshold of Masumeh (PBUH) and its method is a combination of document review, rereading and analysis of documents, interviews and field study whose quotation point is rereading and analyzing documents. In this review, 1,200 documents were reviewed, related to 90 endowments, and significant information was extracted from them. A study of the cultural and social course of endowments in Qom during the Pahlavi era, studying the different aspects of the life of Mohammad Bagher Motevalli Bashi and Abolfazl Tawlit, structural analysis and appearance of endowment documents on the Threshold of Masoumeh (PBUH) during the Pahlavi era, studying the types of social and cultural endowments, expenditures, functions and endowments, and trying to understand the causes and factors of endowment transformation in Qom during the Pahlavi era is a variety of new materials that were acquired in this thesis.
