Travel is one of the most important human experiences, and for a long time, human societies considered travel as a way to increase communication and cultural exchange and referred to it as an opportunity for maturity and cultural growth. Divine religions consider travel as part of their traditions and include customs for it; Therefore, the symbolic and central meaning of travel in religions is the transition from imperfection to perfection, and movement in it means the transition to becoming more complete. The Qur’an and Islamic hadiths, as two holy texts of Muslims, have dealt with the subject of travel and considered it important . The problem of this study is to investigate the importance of travel and its functions in the Quran and hadiths. The study method is qualitative and exploratory. The data have been organized through documentary research and traditional content analysis. One of the most important results from the study is to point out that the Qur’an and the tradition have made travel a tool to know the divine traditions and history of other nations and peoples. In fact, the Qur’an refers to moral travel, and travel is a great way to understand ideas rationally; Because the principles of religion are one of the fundamental principles of Islam, which every Muslim must believe in, otherwise he is not considered a Muslim, and everyone who is obligated must think and meditate on the principles of religion and believe in it with certainty, not with suspicion. Among the beliefs which travel plays a role in confirming and understanding are the beliefs of monotheism, resurrection, and imamate. We find these beliefs in our Islamic heritage through the Holy Quran and traditions. When Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) was asked about God: He said to the questioner: Have you ever boarded a ship? Until the end of the hadith… And this is a clear sign that travel is the way that directes a person to God. Likewise, the doctrine of resurrection takes many forms, including the story of the Companions of the Cave, depicted in the Qur’an, where they traveled through time and left behind kings and emperors to prove the belief of resurrection. And as for the belief of Imamate, in the succession of Musa’s brother in his place when he went to the meeting place of his master and in the journey of the Prophet in the battle of Tabuk, Ali succeeded him, and the hadith of status ( Manzilat) expresses this meaning, and many material and spiritual meanings in travel occur throughout our daily lives. The Qur’an and hadiths recommend traveling for learning.
