Water, its purification, prevention of pollution and its wastage are very important issues of our time Water pollution is a big environmental problem, due to the progress of industry and technology, we are facing increasing progress every day, many heavy metals are toxic to humans, four metals such as mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd)) And arsenic (As) are the most dangerous for the environment due to their widespread use, toxicity and widespread use Of course, none of these elements have ever been so widespread in the environment that they pose a widespread danger However, all of them have been found in toxic levels in some neighborhoods in recent years These minerals are mainly transported from one place to another by air, and this transfer is usually in the form of species that are adsorbed, adsorbed or adsorbed on a particle material The seas and oceans are the largest areas of the planet in terms of area, and due to their wealth and living and non-living resources, they are the most important areas for access to food and minerals, which led man to visit these areas Recourse The growing need for these materials and the purpose of research is to be aware of the degree of protection of these materials The environment and the extent of its obligations in international conventions and Iraqi law to address the subject under study Related to the protection of rivers against environmental pollution, it has used the laws of other countries that have dealt with this issue, as well as legal texts, to achieve its research objectives It was found in international conventions and the research was divided into three chapters and ended with a conclusion that included the most important findings and recommendations.
