The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the architectural tradition in the two great empires (Ottoman Empire and Byzantine Empire). Therefore, in order to achieve this important building, the Hagia Sophia was considered as a case study. This means that this building was built in the Byzantine period as an architectural masterpiece of that tradition, so it can well represent the characteristics of the architectural tradition in the Byzantine period, the same building after the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Muslims, also considered by them Therefore, as it passed, this building has been considered in both traditions. Since the construction of Hagia Sophia in accordance with the historical trajectory is first discussed in the Byzantine period, in this study, first discusses the Byzantine Empire and then discusses the Ottoman Empire. The information required for this research is historical and has been collected through a library method. The results of this study show that Ottoman architecture after the conquest of Constantinople under the influence of Byzantine architecture has taken a more developed form, meaning that Ottoman architects, while considering the architectural works left from the Byzantine period, at the same time using Byzantine architectural elements. , These elements were so skillfully integrated into traditional Ottoman architecture that they were finally able to create a new style of Ottoman architecture in less than 200 years.
