Among various kind of Islamic arts, Calligraphy is a type of art that in addition of it’s authenticity, not only has been able to continue it’s own life until today, but every day goes forward the evolution and progress. Among the scholars of Islamic art, there are many different kinds of opinions about Islamic Calligraphy and among them, Traditionalists and Historicists are the most important experts. In this study has been tried to check out their views on the principles of Islamic art briefly, the attitude of these two kinds of experts on the art of calligraphy have been explored, based on library research methods. After investigating in Historicisms and Traditionalists theories, we concluded that Historicisms have a realistic attitude into Islamic Calligraphy and their theories conforms historical facts. In the other hand, Traditionalists have a fictitious and poetic viewpoint into Islamic Calligraphy, not being conformed historical facts. They just have been raised from metaphysician bases not being had basis in real world or at least they are in uncertainty position.
