Investigation of personality of Imam Ali   on the basis of position which has in Islam  is important. Accordingly,  historians and  hagiographer have attended  different aspect of Imam Ali  by different intellectual  tendencies.  This study has aimed to  investigate  the personality of Imam Ali  (p.b.u.h)  in works  of  Ibn Athir  ( 1160-1232) , Zahabi ( 1250 , 1273)  and Ibn Kathir          ( 1301 , 1372). It is fundamental study  which is done by  descriptive method and using  library results.  These sunny  historians  and Hagiographer have  been affected by their  intellectual and  geological  tendencies   in expressing  historical  events. Of course, then governments  have influenced  the depiction  of these historical  reports.   Precise  search of   historical  sources and works  of these three historians  in life   of Imam Ali  (p.b.u.h) and analysis of  gathered data  show that  their  theological  works  has affected  historical  reports  in form of   incompletely   narrating  events   or hiding them  or defining   parts of them  and disregarding  special parts  of life  of Imam Ali . This study   has showed   the conspectus  of the view of  sunny historians and Hagiographer  in 7th and 8th centuries about the introduction of Imam Ali ( p.b.u.h).  in the study,  after first  chapter  discussing primary  issues  ,  life of Imam Ali (p.b.u.h) has been  compiled in three chapters.  “Imam Ali from birth to caliphate  ”   is the issue of  second chapter.  “Imam Ali from caliphate to   martyrdom  is discussed in third chapter and  the last chapter  has discussed  virtues  and munificence  of Imam Ali ( p.b.u.h).
