Swearing and cursing was used before the advent of Islam and after the advent of Islam, it was also used by Muslims. Swearing in the word means abusive speech and cursing in general means being for away and rejecting. If it is from Allah, it is a departure from Allah’s mercy and it is from the people, it will be cursed. Referring to the Quran and the tradition of the infallibles, swearing is an act of evil and forbidden. But cursing in the Quran and narratives has been used repeatedly, sometimes involving groups and sometimes involving certain individuals. By referring to historical books, it becomes clear that the cursing was a common practice among the Companions and even the Caliphs. After that Mu`awiyah founded the public cursing of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) on pulpit throughout Islamic city. After the Umayyad, other Islamic caliphs to achieve their political goals, they sometimes ordered to curse the religions and sometimes abolished the order of cursing. Some leaders of the Islamic faiths and their supporters have also cursed each other in different time. When we refer to the behavior of the Prophet, the three Caliphs and the Companions, there is never any evidence of excommunication, knowing debauchee, ta`zir, execution and killing of a person who cursed. Although the criteria for the issuance of sentences to the Sunni are Quran, the word and behavior of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the behavior of the Caliphs and companions, but the opinion of most Sunni scholars in the for sects of jurisprudence is the decree of blasphemy and killing, especially if the two first Caliphs have been cursed. In contrast, for most scholars of Shiism by using the quran, the word and behavior of infallible, any insult to the sanctity of other religious have been declared forbidden.
