One of the important issues among  Islamic scholars is the issue of life of the intermediate state (purgatory) which plays a key role in other important and fundamental issues such as intercession, resorting, recourse, etc., so that, if we are to confirm the existence of  the intermediate state (purgatory), these underlying and important issues are Proof, and if we deny this , of course  these issues will be neglected. This issue has been used repeatedly in Quranic verses. The Qur’anic verses refer to the word “barzakh”. The purpose of this thesis is to study and analyze the life of the intermediate state (purgatory) and its impact on the world and the barzakh. It is from the perspective of the two major schools, namely the school of Ash’arite and the school of  Imamites, which is one in Sunni thought and the other in thought Shiite have emerged. The two schools, despite the fact that intermediate state (purgatory)  and its occurrence, as well as the connection and influence between the intermediate state (purgatory)  and life in this world and the importance of Islamic thought, are accepted, but in the way and means of reaching those facts are not united. The Ash’arites believe  that consider the reason and the way to achieve the truths of life as well as the confirmation of the connection between this world and that world  is only through the hadiths  and Quranic verses, and believe that such concepts, because of its transcendental nature, are beyond and far from the reach of human intellect and understanding and he cannot achieves it with the means of his intellect. They do not explicitly allow human intellect to interfere in this matter. In contrast to such thinking is the thinking and thought of Imamites. They accept a place for reason alongside the hadiths  and Quranic verses in understanding and proving arguments in this matter.
