Islamic civilization-making is one of the most important aspirations and goals those Muslim scholars and all Muslims think about so that the Islamic world will be transformed and achieve a high status as before. In this regard, various factors are needed to achieve this, and it should be noted that tolerance has been a major factor in the flourishing of Islamic civilization-making in the preceding centuries and can play a role in the Islamic civilization of the present period.. In order to explain the role of tolerance in Islamic civilization-making, Quranic verses and narrations, and in particular the Shi’a Four Works, have also been used. In order to express the function of tolerance in the contemporary period, the historical background of tolerance in Islam and the viewpoint of contemporary Muslim scholars have also been used. in order to study the role of tolerance in Islamic civilization, it is necessary in the first step to carry out a conceptual study and a tolerance example in order to clarify the relation of tolerance with some religious and social concepts. On the other hand, considering the history of tolerance in Islam and its functioning in civilization, it is also necessary to explain the foundations. Quadruple dimensions can be considered in this treatise. First, the study of the role of tolerance in the spread of rationalism, free thinking, the dynamics of Iijtihad, the struggle against superstition, critique and modernism; second, the role of tolerance in the production of knowledge and role of the scholars and the reconstruction of the past scientific heritage and the growth of scientific centers; Third, the role of tolerance in social relationships such as convergence between people, participation, social ethics, intellectual growth, moderation and realism versus religions, and the fourth dimension is the role of tolerance in relations with Iranian civilization and the civilizations of East Asia and Western civilization, and the relationship between national and territorial identity and Islamic identity. In all these dimensions, the impact of any of these issues on Islamic civilization should be considered. The method of data collection is librarical and the method of research is descriptive and analytical. The paper is to describe and analyze them after verifying narrational and historical data and reviewing the views. On the basis of the study, one can say that tolerance, in the same way as in the past has led to the emergence and expansion of Islamic civilization, and has a similar position in the current and future period, which has changed the emphasis on religious values by transforming the future of civilization in the Islamic world.
