The issue of peace and war is an important one in human relations, which always has been a part of the human being’s social life. Although the holy Quran is the source of understanding the general principles about the issue of peace and war, Nabavi tradition and other sacred primates’ traditions can help understand the main principles about peace and war better and more adequate.Among all, according to the distinguished position of Imam Ali, as the most certified Khalifa of the Prophet Mohammed and also the especial historical aspects of his life, his traditions can act as a complete template and a proper indicator to adopt an approach towards war or peace. Trying to extract and analyze the theoretical basics of war and peace in alavi tradition, this research concludes that the most important extractable anthropological basics from Alavi traditions regarding war and peace, are: Human dignity, A human being theist and God-seeking and becoming everlasting. These are the basics which originates the right to life, freedom and justice. And also the theological basics from Alavi traditions regarding peace and war, are: The divine mercy, the conflict between the right and the wrong, showing the discrepancy between being guided or strayed, defending the teachings of Islam and the prophet, giving an insight to the monotheism and obeying God’s order to conflict the traitors.Carefully analyzing the Alavi tradition before and after gaining the government, reveals the impact of these basics in Imam ali’s approach towards the issue of peace and war.
