Fatimid caliphat is the first independent Shia Ismaili government.
It was established in north of Africa and moved to Egypt after it was conquered . This region (Egypt) was different from Almaghreb Al eslami( The Islamic west region) . Many people of different religions and Islamic sects lived in this region from a long time. The treatments and relationships of caliphs of this government with other religions especially with the Jews and Christians have a special importance. This study aims to know the position of the followers of religions in Egypt and their relationships with the rulers of Fatimid state and this study aims to explain the relationships of the followers of other religions with the Egyptian society. How was the relationship of Fatimid caliphs in Egypt with the followers of christianity and Judaism? According to our study we reached this answer: Fatimids during their ruling in Egypt dealt with tolerance towards other religions in Egypt besides the Islamic religion. They dealt Jews and Christians with tolerance and gave them a complete freedom in their worships and their rituals.
The followers of these religions were having security and peace during different periods.
Like a part of the time of the caliph Al hakim be Amir Allah. ( The one who rules according to the orders of God) , his time was little strict towards these religions. Many of the Christianity and Judaism followers occupied many high positions in the Fatimid State. Their work in these governmental positions was a chance to get many exclusive benefits, that was a cause to persecute Muslims sometimes, for this cause the Egyptian society refused that and they discarded punished some of them, of course the Fatimid Caliphs did not tolerate them who abused Islam and the texture of Egyptian society. Sometimes the bad behaviors of some the followers of these religion were the reason to punish them strictly.
