The approach to interpretation of the Qur’an by the Qur’an in contemporary interpretations: A comparative study between the interpretations of Shiites and Sunnis; Focusing on the verse of purification

From the past until now, commentators have made great efforts to develop the method of interpretation of the Qur’an to the Qur’an and have greatly benefited from this method.Imamiyya commentators such as Sheikh Tusi and Tabarsi used this method as well as Sunni commentators. This approach has received wide attention especially in the recent and contemporary centuries, as some commentators have put this approach as a basic and main approach in their works, as in the commentary of Alaur Rahman Balaghi, Al Mizan Allameh Tabatabayi, Tafsir Al-Furqan by Mohammad Sadeghi Tehrani among the Shiites, and the interpretation of the Qur’an by Abdul Karim al-Khatib and the interpretation of the Qur’an by Anwar Bayan Mohammad Shenqeiti are evident. Through his narrations, we came to the conclusion that the Qur’an is the first source of legislation in the eyes of both groups, and no one disagreed with it, neither from the Sunnis nor from the Shiites. This approach has a significant effect in clarifying the correct meaning of the verse of purification. Because the Shiites believe that it means the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, while the Sunnis believe that the meaning of the verse is the Prophet’s wives. One of the important results of this research is the differentiation of the interpretations of al-Mizan and Ala-ur-Rahman following this method, and it is considered one of the richest interpretations due to having a deep intellectual understanding. Tafsir al-Mizan follows scientific and strong accuracy in the interpretation style of the Qur’an to the Qur’an, where he goes verse by verse and shows its meaning with other verses.
