Allameh Tehrani known as one of the prominent jurists in Iran had a serious and thoughtful input on the subject of mysticism. Among many supporters and opponents from the two spectrums of jurists and mystics, his opponents are often those who do not seriously contemplate into the issues of mysticism and his deep mystical thoughts. In order to follow the path of Tariqat and to reach the truth as one of the requirements of the seeker, Allameh Tehrani believes in the balance between the Sharia of Tariqat and the truth. In fact, he believes in the observance of the complete principles of the Sharia. What has made Allameh Tehrani and other scholars of mysticism subject to criticism by some jurists is their special view on some jurisprudential topics such as the conditions of a mujtahid or the relationship between a teacher and a Seleucid student under the control of mysticism. Allameh Tehrani does not consider mere knowledge of jurisprudence as a necessary condition for the issue of ijtihad. In this realm, mystical intuition in religious issues is a valid proof for him. This treatise first gives a brief look at the life and introduction of Allameh Tehrani, his works, his religious, scientific and social aspects, then discusses some of Allameh’s jurisprudential and mystical opinions and thoughts. It also examines issues related to the unity of existence from Allameh’s point of view, the conditions of Mufti and the perfect human being from Allameh Tehrani’s point of view.
