THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TELEVISION CHANNELS DIRECTED AT CHILDREN AND THEIR CHALLENGES IN INFLUENCING THEIR BEHAVIOR

The study aimed to identify the MBC3 channel directed to children and the extent of its effectiveness from the influence and public aspect on the behavior of children in Baghdad, The field side indicated that the channel constantly broadcasts many local and imported programs and animations, and that these materials have various behavioral implications that the child may adopt, As for the practical aspect, the majority of children have acquired more positive behaviors than negative ones, and that the channel enjoys an effective audience among the children of Baghdad governorate to a large extent, In this study, the researcher relied on the descriptive approach, and by using the questionnaire tool to collect data from the 372 respondents, And who included the child’s relatives from the parents, brothers and grandparents, in a random way in the selection as a kind of inclusion of all the characteristics of the Baghdad society, By starting the study by asking specific problems, questions and assumptions, it was found that children who are exposed to long hours of watching television are the highest percentage of children who are more likely to acquire aggressive behaviors in addition to imitation of the programs they watch and lack of awareness of what is realistic on TV and what is imaginary, And that children with average understanding and below are less likely to acquire negative behaviors than children who have a full understanding of the contents of children’s programs, It also indicated that children’s television advertisements play a role in creating a kind of behavioral reinforcement that stimulates aggression, and that the channel’s policies and contents are not similar to the policies of the other MBC3 channel group, Where it was found that the channel is primarily entertainment, and on the other hand, it was found that children’s television channels, specifically MBC3 channel, face a number of internal and external challenges that affect the channel’s efficiency in maintaining its audience and achieving the impact on the child, As a result of the emergence of modern media that dominated the media reality, such as Facebook and YouTube in particular, and with other results it was found that children who are subject to the censorship element had higher positive effects on them than children who are not subject to any kind of censorship.
