The poetic image is an artistic structure through which the poet uses a special graphic platform to express his poetic experience in the form of poetry. The poetic image prompts the poet to express his feelings and thoughts to the audience in an artistic and impressive
manner, as well as to portray his perspective and beliefs about the universe through it. “Kamaluddin Adib” is one of the pioneers of contemporary Iraqi poetry, which aims to show the injustice and cruelty of the defenseless people of his country. Therefore, he turned to creating three poetic images (simile, metaphorical, and symbolic) in order to awaken people’s determination and courage and call them to fight against oppression and injustice. It can be said that his divan is full of similes, allegorical and metaphorical images, many and very diverse, which depict what was in his chest and inside, and what was going on in his imagination. Regarding the symbolic images, we can also see that “Adib” uses some elements of sacred religious texts in his poetry. Therefore, we find the poet trying to create symbolic images. The poet also seeks to recreate and use these elements in his images to keep pace with the events of his time and benefit from the events of these characters. As a result, we see that the poet has succeeded in using the symbol to express his poetic vision. He has been able to reveal his inner feelings and embody his ethical concepts with his symbolic images. Anyone who follows Kamaluddin’s poetic images will find that these images are based on three main pillars: 1-simile 2-exchange of perception (recognition and visualization) 3-symbolic images (including legendary images). This research, using a descriptive-analytical method, tries to show the most important poetic images of this great Iraqi poet and their influence on the artistic structure of Arabic poetry.
