Textual thresholds are very important in the process of promoting a literary work or text. Rather, it is the reason for the process of publicity and universality that may reach it, as it is accompanying the text, but rather a condition that must be met in it. Where it is impossible to find a text without thresholds. The thresholds are an essential component of the text as they complement it, and they benefit from it as well, so there is complementarity between the two. It has also found interest by critics in the modern era ‘and since the student of modern theories finds that they have restored the consideration and existence of textual thresholds, which include main and sub-headings, book cover and other thresholds. Accordingly, this research aims to have a brief knowledge about textual thresholds and how Arab and Western critics dealt with them. Forming a clear picture of the internal and external textual thresholds and the critics’ view of them. In the study, the researcher dealt with the importance of textual thresholds and their understanding for Arabs and Westerners, as well as the internal thresholds (gifts, initiation, internal headings, forewords, margins and footnotes), as well as external thresholds and their importance to the literary text consisting of (cover, title, author name, and sexual indicator) and these thresholds His society is enough to reach the literary text to fame and the world. As for the conclusion, it came as an answer to the reasons that led to the attention of critics in the modern era in the thresholds, as well as an explanation of the reasons for the multiplicity of the names of the thresholds and the difference in them. It included a set of results and conclusions that I was able to reach after studying the subject from several aspects within the limits of the researcher’s knowledge
