This study is concerning the natural signs in the poems of Dr. Raheem al-Gharbawi and introducing their symbols. The main goal of this study is to cure an important paradox which is the effect of nature in the Iraqi contemporary poem, especially the poem of Dr. Raheem al-Gharbawi, and to show the particularity of this kind of poem in using those sings. Thus, this study decided to achieve an expecting target; it is showing the symbols of those natural signs and how the poet can use them, and the study discovered many inductive paradoxes in using the signs in comparison between al-Gharbawi and other poets whose mentioned them previously. This study depended on an analytic and descriptive method aiming to reach the deep symbols the poet had concealed in his text, therefore, the study has got marvelous results, and more important were the poet’s effect by his environment in the governorate of (Wasit) other than anywhere else, and we could discover many natural signs in that environment while other natural signs were absent from that environment such as seas, oceans, rapacious animals, or natural disasters (like earthquakes, storms or floods). Moreover, the poet tries – in many of his poems – to give the direct description which is away from comparison with natural elements, and no doubt this shows the poet’s piercing awareness beyond explanation and arbitrariness.
