The environment is considered the medium in which creatures live, including humans, animals, and plants, and man has acted as an assault on this environment. There is no more dangerous than what is happening today in terms of damage to the components of the environment resulting from social and economic development and the negative aspects of affecting the environment. There is no doubt that the existence of international and domestic law in criminalizing acts The environment has great importance in protecting and preserving the environment, just as the internal Iraqi administrative laws and international agreements have great importance in preserving the environment, which leads to the criminalization of actions that violate the environment. Facing the modern environmental challenges that modern civilization has produced requires that these cases be subject to special and general rules represented by environmental conservation laws. Internal laws and general international agreements and articles contained in these internal Iraqi administrative laws and international agreements criminalize any form of aggression against the environment in order to preserve and protect the environment to ensure a happy life away from environmental problems.
The current study aims to know the Iraqi internal administrative laws and regulations and international agreements in achieving environmental goals in sustainable development. The researcher employed a descriptive approach to reveal the relationship between the variables of the current study.
The current study concluded that Iraqi domestic laws and international agreements have contributed to protecting and setting general rules in protecting the environment and curbing the phenomenon of environmental pollution.
The researcher recommends setting up specialized courts at the national and international levels to look into issues of environmental pollution, in a way that contributes to codifying the environmental rules in a special law.
