This study dealt with the role of public relations in developing the work and performance of government institutions، the Ministry of Electricity in particular. The problem of this research is that there is ambiguity in the understanding of the relationship of public relations by the respondents on the one hand، and the shortcomings and regression of public relations in the exercise of its activities on the other hand، and according to the foregoing، there is a problem The study we are going to answer the following question: Does public relations play a role in improving the development of the work and performance of employees in the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity، and this research is a descriptive research in terms of type، and the research also used the survey method in the context of what is related to a survey of a specific audience or target audience In the research، which is one of the appropriate and specialized approaches in field and applied research for the public، the research community is represented by a public، and a relative stratified random sample was selected، and the sample size was (169) single females and males. A questionnaire was distributed and the research resulted in a set of results، the most prominent of which is that public relations do not perform their duties to the fullest، and that public relations considers one of the tasks of the Ministry of Electricity to provide the necessary capabilities that contribute to the existence of effective public relations. In addition، there are many obstacles facing the public relations activity، the most important of which is the weak training of employees and the absence of the element of expertise and functional competence. With regard to the links of independent and dependent variables، the percentage of males outperforms the percentage of females. In terms of age، their ages revolved around the age group (36-41). As for the level of marital status، it revolved around the percentage of married people. As for the educational level، it was found that the academic degree was represented by the university level with regard to the job title. The results of the analysis showed that the majority of the sample members are in the rank of an employee، with regard to the level of experience، the majority of the sample members have more than (11) years of experience. The researcher presented a set of recommendations، the most important of which is the need to work on improving the role of public relations in the Ministry of Electricity and paying attention to its internal and external audience، urging the conduct of as many research and field studies as possible on public relations and motivation based on the link between public relations and performance.
