The markets are one of the most important components of the city’s architectural structure, which included commercial activity and industrial production, such as shops, qasars, khans, and public squares. The Muslims had an interest in markets and the reason they built cities in all cities. The markets were constantly located near mosques, and the role played by the state in the economic and social prosperity It is the place where exhibitors and seekers meet. Also, the market in general, which represents the means through which the seller and the buyer meet, and it is an element of the economic and social development of countries, ancient and modern. The trade and economic that we mentioned, and all the previous nations depended on markets for the development of cities and the recovery of the individual alike, and the markets and trade were strong, those countries were strong and vice versa. To answer this main question, what role did markets play in the economic and social life of the Umayyad period? The researcher hypothesis is that there is an important role for scholars in the markets of the Umayyad state, and their role was very important on the social and cultural reality of those markets and on the souls of the people present. Iraq and others, and also that segment had a role in a social reality on society and countries, which included all specializations, and they were scholars of various Arab, foreign, Persian and Romanian nationalities. The researcher tried to prove the above hypothesis by using the descriptive and analytical method from the historical method and by using the library method in collecting information.
