 Semiotics analysis is one of the important techniques for processing and understanding the implicit and explicit messages of signs in films. These tags include images. Dialogues. Soundtracks. Selection of specific colors. etc.. and each of them indicates a specific meaning. This research aims at a semiotic study of the movie “The Great Question” directed by Muhammad Shukri. which was produced in 1983 on the subject of the Twenty Revolution that the Iraqi people carried out under the leadership of Iraqi Shiite clerics in 1920. In this research. a number of scenes from the movie were selected to study the signs in them and their implications for meanings. Required. in special tables. This study showed that the director of the movie “The Great Question” uses symbols and signs such as: choosing the locations of the beginning and continuation of the intifada. Choosing the type of shot. close. medium. and general. and choosing the characters and their makeup. the colors used. their light. rhythm. film melody. soundtrack. and camera movements. achieved intended meanings and concepts. such as: the rich Iraqi resources such as oil as the main reason. The occupation of Iraq. the role of the clergy in the revolution. the inequality of quantitative and qualitative weapons. the sacrifices of the revolutionaries. the British fear of the unity of all Iraqis and their efforts to divide and destabilize Iraq. and the lack of confidence of the Iraqi people in them. Finally. showing the continuation of the unfinished revolution. However. the researcher believes that the film did not adequately show the role of the Shiite clergy and the people of Shiite areas in shaping the Twentieth Revolution.
