The phenomenon of displacement is one of the most frequent and widespread stylistic phenomena in literary texts. This technique is a fundamental issue in shaping the aesthetics of poetic texts, which is the departure of speech from its familiar idealistic format. Hence, the researcher sought to study this phenomenon in light of the descriptive – analytical approach, in the poetry of the Jordanian writer, Amina al-Adwan, who wanted to violate the rules of the ordinary language and revolted against its restrictions. The writer, critic and poet “Amina Al-Adwan” is considered one of the prominent literary voices in the Jordanian arena in particular and the Arab scene in general, as she was distinguished for her literary production in criticism and poetry. This research aims to reveal the aesthetics of semantic displacement and to clarify its dimensions for this poet who celebrated her poetry with this artistic technique. On the semantic level, this poetess resorted to the arts of simile, metaphor, metaphor, and metonymy (and symbol). Displacement has multiple aesthetic purposes, but surprise and astonishment to the recipient are considered general purposes in its poetic text. As for the main purposes, they return to the context, as they differ according to the different situations in which they appear.
