Kuwait is an Islamic country with a diverse population of Arabs and non-Arabs, Shiites, Sunnis, residents and immigrants. Despite the great diversity and classifications of the people of the society in this country, the peaceful and peaceful life of the people is thought-provoking and exemplary. Kuwaiti Shiites have played a stabilizing role in past interactions with Shiites and with Sunnis and the government.
The present dissertation is the result of a descriptive-analytical field research that introduces the internal currents of Kuwaiti Shiites and their quality and role in interaction with the government and other Muslims. The study of the positions of the theological-political currents within the Shiites of Kuwait towards the majority of the Sunnis of the country, supporters and opponents of the government and preparing the way of proper interaction of Shiite institutions abroad is one of the concerns of this research.
Shiite currents help in introducing and being aware of the quality and extent of their role and influence in their relations with the government and other currents, and provide the basis for answering the main question of the dissertation: “How is the relationship of Kuwaiti Shiites with the government and other Muslims?”
A study of the history of the spread of shiism in kuwait and the role of shiite scholars, discourses governing the shiite currents and what currents exist in kuwait, kuwaiti shiites’ relations with the government and how they interact with other muslims have helped us answer the main question.
The intellectual and theological currents of the Kuwaiti Shiites include the osuli, akhbari and sheikhi currents, and political currents include islamic national alliance(believers in Velayat-e-Faqih), the Justice and peace gathering (supporters of the shirazi authority), the patriotic covenant gathering, the humanitarian message gathering ( sheikhi), and the independents.
Of the three intellectual and theological currents, the Akhbaris and the Sheikhs have not entered much into the field of political and social currents and are mainly introverted and influenced by the Bahraini and Ahsa spheres. Within the framework of the fundamentalist intellectual current, which is influenced by the three constituencies of Najaf, Qom and Karbala, political and social currents have been formed and the establishment of groups, parties, spectrums, factions and intellectual and political fronts has taken shape. The independent political current is influenced by the Najaf constituency, the national islamic union is in line with the Islamic Revolution and is influenced by the Qom constituency, and the Shirazi current is influenced by the Karbala constituency.
In contrast, the news and fact-finding currents have been more of a maintainer of the existing order and have not been against the orientation of the government and have been less accused of dependence on other countries.
The way kuwaiti intellectual-political currents interact with each other is considered appropriate and incomparable with kuwait’s neighboring countries due to the religious and general mood of the people of this country in respect of the ulema. The vast majority of kuwaiti shiite sects now have good relations with the government and other Muslims, with the exception of the salafi sect, while interacting positively with each other.
The novelty of this treatise is in a sense that it deals with the shiite currents in Kuwait, which has not been done before in a centralized form in the form of a book, article or treatise.
On the other hand, the ground for serious reflection on “how Shiite institutions outside Kuwait interact with its various currents” has been provided so that political equations are not disturbed to the detriment of Shiites. An important topic that can be considered independently as a supplement to the present dissertation by Peugeot experts in this field.
The type of research in the applied dissertation and the method of work is descriptive-analytical.
The method of data collection is library and interview. The first category of data collection tools are library. In this section, Arabic and English books and articles available in libraries as well as online libraries as well as materials available on various websites have been used. Another tool used is field study. In this section, some experts, especially former ambassadors and advisers, as well as shiite scholars living in Kuwait and kuwaiti scholars living in Qom have been interviewed and consulted.
