Examining the biographies of historical-Islamic personalities is one of the most difficult academic studies, because it requires a lot of impartiality and objectivity to the subjects, as well as the study of various sources and the examination of procedures surrounding the individual’s biography. Undoubtedly, many historical figures, due to the intellectual orientations, religious or sectarian tendencies of the author, are the subject of disagreement and controversy among historians who have addressed the biographies of these figures in a negative or positive waz  According to this issue, the biography of Hajjaj bin Yusuf Thaqafi can be a place of extensive historical controversy due to the prominent role he played during his tenure as the governor of Wasit during the Umayyad period. Scholars, researchers and those interested in biographies of historical figures. The connection of some names with each other in many historical events such as the killing of Ibn al-Zubayr and the heinous killing of his enemies and opponents is controversial.   This research examines the biography of Hajjaj bin Yusuf al-Thaqafi and evaluates it based on the Salafi method. In other words, how have the Salafis described Hajjaj bin Yusuf? It is known that the Salafist approach looks at historical figures from one point of view, because it considers all the Islamic figures who were contemporaries with the Messenger of God (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regardless of their wrongdoings. That is, it cannot be denied that many wrong human deeds were done by some companions. Based on this, it is natural that Hajjaj, based on the Salafist point of view, is remembered as an honorable and prominent figure who played a role in the Umayyad era and is looked upon as having good qualities such as asceticism and piety. However, this does not in any way mean that the biography of Hajjaj is authentic, because many important Islamic sources provide us with a lot of information that shows the terrible events and deeds and unworthy traits attributed to Hajjaj.  In any case, the role of academic historical research is to evaluate personalities and study them based on scientific and objective methods and away from prejudices or previous beliefs. This is what our research aims at and it wants to deal with the biography of Hajj based on the Salafi method.
