Rudolph Otto has analyzed the Holy in the book “The idea of the Holy “. In his view, the Holy has the rational and non-rational elements and religions have so far viewed it from a rational and ethical perspective and analyzed it from a holy perspective. Otto did not regard The Holy as a term; he used a new term for it, and called it the Numinous. According to Otto, the numinous has the following components: Creature-Feeling, Mysterium, Tremendum and Fascination. Tremendum has the following elements: awefulness, energy and over- poweringness. Component mysterium has ‘The Wholly Other’ in itself, too. Otto was influenced by various personalities and currents of thought such as Kant’s rationalism, the Romantic Movement, Schleiermacher, Albrecht and so on. From the point of view of Sadrian thought, there are many different levels of understanding of the Holy among, the people of Kashf, the Wise Men and the Believers. While transcendent wisdom has a different rational analysis of the sacred, transcendent wisdom has also used transcendental analysis (intuitive perception).
Other areas in which Sadrian wisdom has analyzed the holy are the love of the mystics and tremendum. Adherents of Sadrian philosophy are also in agreement with Otto on some issues. Sadrians use both rational and intuitive approaches in understanding the Holy. Mulla Sadra’s followers even believe that his perception of the Holy is secret, and though his perception is possible to all, there are stages to his perception that are secret, and that he has different degrees. Elements of both thinking are close together for example, the experience of his fear and the experience of the inexpressibility of the experience, imminence of theory of innate to creatuer-Feeling and to be a priori of numinous. Both ideas about the experience of the sacred are inherently anti-structuralism. At the same time, elements of both thinking are different; for example, parts of the intuition are invalid from the standpoint of Sadrian thinking, but from point of view otto intuition is aim. And essence of gheyb-al-ghoyob to the wholly other are different.
