Intertextuality is the intersection within the text of an expression taken from other texts، or it is the relationship between the ego’s discourse and another discourse from another side; Iraqi poetry was adorned with religious intertextuality because they were influenced by the religious community، family circumstances and religious inclination. And the poet Ahmad Safi al-Najafi paid attention to this aspect and used the types of religious intertextuality which are evident in many of his poems. Through his analytical study، the researcher wants to show the religious tendency in the poet’s poetry by using religious vocabulary and phrases and drawing inspiration from the lofty religious values and classifying this intertextuality in form and content from dialogue، absorption and rumination in his poetry. And when Arab researchers got to know this theory recently، they took its first origins through translated Western studies and tried to apply it to models of Arabic literature، although some of these Western studies exaggerated in depicting the limits of intertextuality when they made it a law for all texts، where the concept of no text without intertextuality was launched. Everything that the creator writes must be taken from a previous material.
Therefore، the importance of research in knowing the literary competence of contemporary Iraqi poetry، especially pure with its religious inclination، appears as he lived in religious social conditions.
Religious intertextuality has taken a radical place in the poetry of Rahmad Safi al-Najafi، so the research aspects varied formally and semanticly influenced by the Holy Qur’an and the honorable hadiths. Religious in terms of concept، including absorption and ruminant. According to al-Safi al-Najafi، the Holy Qur’an constituted an intellectual reference for its overlap with poetic texts in many Qur’anic relations، considering that it is the center of science and knowledge، and the poet drew from it what strengthens and supports his poetry on many public and private occasions، where the Holy Qur’an was a symbol of ideals، role models and sermons at times.
Al-Safi، with his delicate sense، innovative thought and outgoing imagination، was able to occupy a prominent place among the poets of his time.
