Assimilation is one of the most famous methods used in the Arabic poetry, and it is considered as one of the most eminent images in eloquence which the poets and the writers have ever used before Islam in order to affect the readers. Assimilation is also regarded as a tool to describe imagination and to convey feelings to the readers carefully, and it plays an important role in forming the poetry image as we meet such phenomena in the verse of the Iraqi poet Mustafa Shaheed Khayoon al-Rikabi. The poets took good care of variety of verses, and when we read his collection named (Texts that are not Read Once) we can notice the variety of purposes and subjects as the modern Arabic verses require that, away from traditional and classical purposes which were known in the past times. The poet could use those purposes from his reality and environment which are related to the poet’s self who could describe almost everything, his aim and dreams. The poet tried to use eloquent assimilation to build the artificial image which is familiar in his verses. This study focuses on the assimilation images in the poetry of al-Rikabi which is the main purpose of his collection, using the analytic and descriptive method.
