The Effect Of Television Talk Shows On The Political Culture Of The Youth of The Faculty Of Media \ University Of Baghdad

Satellite TV talk shows are one of the most important factors in creating a political culture for the general public, especially the university youth. And this is due to the special features of the media. The researcher chose the tenth program of the Al-Iraqiya satellite network, which is connected to the Iraqi media network It reflects the views of the Iraqi government and the Iraqi society in its various sects and tendencies. The statistical population of the study is the students of Baghdad Media faculty 309 people were selected using the Cochran’s formula.

The purpose of this study is to answer the following questions.

• Does watching a TV talk show have an effect on creating a political culture for media students?
• Determine the content of talk shows and the reasons students choose to watch this TV show.

Methodologically, research is descriptive and applied. The data collection tool is a questionnaire and SPSS software should be used to test the hypotheses.  Also, to identify the content of the program and the reasons for choosing this program, 20 loops of the program were selected and examined by content analysis method. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between viewing the program and political culture.

 In addition, there is a positive and significant impact between political awareness, political participation, political trust and the creation of political culture.  On the other hand, by analyzing the content of the tenth program, it became clear that this program deals with political, economic, service, cultural and sports issues. And it relies more on political issues, and most viewers of the program also prefer issues with political content. On the other hand, the purpose of the students was to observe the program of spending their leisure time and then to obtain new information.
