The phenomenology of religion is a scientific approach to the subject of religion that seeks to make the sacred a matter of experience and understanding for contemporary man. The famous mythologist Mircea Eliade seeks to make communication and interaction with the sacred possible through the discovery of the existing structure among religious texts, religions, beliefs and symbols of believers. An appearance that had not been achieved before, even for the believers. Accordingly, she focuses on the first and most complete manifestation of the sacred, namely the creation of the world in the holiest place and time, and interprets and analyzes other narratives of the manifestation of the sacred – myths.
Eliade’s intellectual structure is not focused on a particular religion or culture, and its components are found in the religions and myths of different nations of the world. Since the works of this scholar and mythologist show relatively little evidence of Islamic beliefs, the question arises as to whether it is possible to apply the Eliadean system of thought to Islamic beliefs and to provide a new understanding of them.
To find the answer, the treatise first explored Eliade’s intellectual structure in the discussion of Holy space and time, and then sought to do so by relying on the beliefs of Muslims and Islamic sources. The result of such research is the acceptance of the centrality of the question of creation in Islam, and the structural similarity and conformity of Islamic beliefs with other religions and myths of the nations. The analysis and classification of Islamic phenomena testifies to the fact that the “Holy matter” with its frequent manifestation in the “holy place and time of Islamic Islam”, intends to make the life and world of the believers “completely different” and heavenly. According to Eliade, the greatest sanctity was manifested in creation, the fact that Islam tries to make it possible to replicate and recreate it by holding rituals and the presence of religious symbols, and to give the most blessings to the believers through it.
