(The Motives of Human Integration According to Tafsir Al-Mizan by Tabataba’i)

Human evolution is one of the most important individual-social concepts that has attracted the minds of many materialistic scientists of the West and Islamic commentators of the East for a long time; Each has its own supporters and opponents. However, the Islamic approach, contrary to the materialists’ belief that man has only a material dimension, considers man to be composed of two material and spiritual dimensions, whose evolution can be achieved only by solving his material and spiritual needs. Allameh Tabatabai is one of the commentators who has paid special attention to this discussion and has studied the evolution of the Islamic approach based on Quranic verses.

Allameh Tabatabai’s approach in this regard is influenced by the Qur’anic approach and while denying the Western evolutionary approach that is shown in Darwin’s theory of evolution, Freud and Superman Nietzsche’s subconscious, etc., emphasizes that human evolution is due to religious nature. This nature is also the cause of human tendency on the material and spiritual level. On the other hand, in his view, evolution has a religious nature or that man connects to the source of happiness, namely God. On the other hand, Tabatabai believes that the real channel is the spiritual development of religion and obedience to its rules. He also believes that the purpose of human evolution is happiness that comes from approaching God and living with the elect.
