In the past, the study of the literary and artistic aspects of the Qur’an has attracted the attention of researchers in the holy texts. With the development of new methods in the field of criticism and text study, Quran scholars are also looking to use new methods in the study of the Qur’an. In this essay, narratology with cognitive approach has been considered as a relatively new method in the study of Quranic stories. According to this method, among the stories of the Qur’an, we have gone to mystical interpretations of the Qur’anic stories of Moses and Khizr. The main issue of this treatise is whether, in order to investigate mystical interpretations of Qur’anic stories, we can use narratology with cognitive approach as an efficient method. We want to know what approaches and possibilities this approach offers to the researcher in order to recognize the scientific and practical values and results of mystical narratives from the Qur’anic story.

In narrative research, how stories are interpreted is questioned. Also, the main issue of cognitive narrative is what processes support narrative comprehension and how does it allow the audience to use the story as a means of thinking, and how to build their own mental model from the world that the story creates? The mystical narrative also has a hermeneutic and layered view of the text, and in this narration there is a two-way relationship between the understanding of the text and mystical conduct. Therefore, it has considerable coordination with cognitive approach in narrative. By posing these issues in this research, it has been attempted to establish a link between narrative studies and Qur’anic studies. This research is a fundamental research based on data analysis. Data were collected through library methods through phishing and referring to research books and software.
